When it comes to the success of the ServiceNow Discovery process, a critical factor is the availability of the device being probed. If a device is not powered on or does not exist at the specified IP address, discovery will not be able to communicate with it. The Shazzam probe's purpose is to identify devices on the network by sending out requests to those IP addresses and listening for responses. If the device is either off or absent, it cannot respond to these probes, which halts the discovery process for that particular device.

While other factors, like network bandwidth limitations and incorrect discovery schedules, can also impact the overall efficiency and timing of the discovery process, they do not completely prevent discovery beyond the Shazzam probe in the same way that a non-existent or powered-off device would.
