ServiceNow Discovery Implementation Certification Practice Exam

The correct answer is that the discovery pattern cannot be reused with other probes. During the classification phase of ServiceNow Discovery, the horizontal discovery pattern is designed to assess and identify devices or applications within a specific range or network segment. If this pattern is executed, it establishes a specific context for the items being discovered in that instance.

Once a horizontal discovery pattern has been executed, it is tightly linked to the specific probes and their designated types. This ensures that the context and the data it collects are not accidentally conflated with other probes that may have different classifications or intended uses. In essence, this design minimizes confusion and ensures that each probe calls on the most relevant and specific patterns for its respective discovery tasks.

Reusing a discovery pattern with multiple probes could lead to erroneous classifications or ineffective discovery outcomes, as each probe has its own needs and context based on the type of device or application being categorized. Thus, this prevents the potential overlap and ensures a more streamlined discovery process within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB).
